The electrification of the automobile sector continues its unstoppable course. At first, it seemed that it would only affect general signatures and some premium. However, it seems that its reach to the whole sector is more than guaranteed. Among the brands that will eventually succumb in one way or another are the most iconic because of the type of car they produce.

One of the brands that have already publicly acknowledged they would be thinking of making a fully electric model and Lamborghini. The Italian company (owned by the Volkswagen Group) by Stefano Demenicali, its CEO, has said that it will follow the plans of the German conglomerate and among them is the manufacture of battery-powered cars.

Using the heat provided by the Geneva Motor Show Demenicali has stated that “electrification is an area of great attention to not centers, but do not expect it will happen in the short term”. In addition, he added that there will be a completely electric Lamborghini by the year 2025. The reason given is that for now are focused on other more profitable products, such as the brand’s new SUV, URUS.

As a preliminary step before the total electrification of Lamborghini, the manufacturer will launch a plug-in hybrid variant of URUS. This will not be before the year 2020, but it will serve to take a pulse to the market and to see how their customers receive this type of technology. According to Domenicali, “we have to be realistic” in terms of the characteristics that must have all super sportsmanship in terms of weight, performance, and performance.

The maximum responsible of the mark ruled that in Lamborghini “We will be prudent. Of course, we are going to grow sustainably, but being in the luxury market does not have to take all the growth possibilities that are there “[…]” Since the financial crisis, the market for high-quality sports cars Has seen a steady recovery.

We will have to see how they face the future and, above all, how customers receive the URUS when it reaches the market. Although to us it gives us on the nose that it will be the Cayene of the signature of Sant’Agata Bolognese.
